In a significant move to enhance transparency and fight corruption, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has partnered with the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
Fulfilling federal directives to establish Anti-Corruption and Transparency Units in every organization, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, representing the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu, led delegates from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace, and ICPC to the NAMA headquarters in Abuja for the induction and inauguration of the ACTU unit within NAMA.
Mr. John Tayo, Director of Air Traffic Services, represented the Managing Director/Chief Executive of NAMA at the event, joined by other Directors for the inauguration of a 10-member committee selected from various departments within NAMA, chaired by the General Manager of SERVICOM, Mrs. Adepeju Ogunbanjo.
In his address, Mr. Tayo expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for the partnership with ICPC. He emphasized that this collaboration would propel NAMA to greater heights in its mission to provide safe, efficient, effective, and economical air navigation services. Mr. Tayo highlighted the importance of a corruption-free system in achieving these goals and the need for continuous self-assessment and vigilance against corrupt practices from both internal and external stakeholders.
In the induction ceremony, the importance of transparency and accountability in the operations of the agency was emphasized by ICPC. He also highlighted NAMA’s commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and fighting corruption at all levels.
During the ceremony, members of the ACTU committee were officially sworn in and took an oath to carry out their duties diligently and with integrity. The event ended with a commitment from all parties involved to work together to ensure a corruption-free environment within NAMA. The collaboration between NAMA, and ICPC is a significant step towards promoting good governance and integrity in the Nigerian aviation sector. By working together, these organizations aim to strengthen anti-corruption measures and promote a culture of accountability and transparency within NAMA and the broader aviation industry.
