Business development department is saddled with the responsibility of building formidable revenue base geared toward creating and growing an economically viable Agency. The department is to explore and harness new areas of revenue generation and also monitor and evaluate existing revenue sources of the Agency both aeronautical and non aeronautical. The department helps to develop solutions to observable revenue problems through such activities as business research, short- term and long-term business planning, and collaboration with other departments, Agencies and business partners.

 

FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT:

  • Monitoring of business environment to identify feasible and viable economic ventures for investment purposes in order to increase the revenue base of the Agency.
  • Monitoring and reviewing existing Aeronautical and Non-Aeronautical revenue sources such as ICT, Telephony services, Route charges, etc. for better revenue performance.
  • Negotiation of equity holdings in such ventures where necessary.
  • Advising the Agency to partake in ventures directly or indirectly with interested parties, including foreign direct investment and ensuring that the Agency derives maximum benefits from its investment activities.
  • Examining and reviewing of proposed partnerships for economic projects that require public/private partnership and/or capital/money market investment.
  • Preparing and appraising of feasibility studies/business plans to determine new venture in which the Agency can invest.
  • Identifying profitable assets, mortgages and real estate business for the agency.
  • Business consultancy services in aviation and allied matters.
  • Preparation and review of business plan for the entire Agency.
  • Collaborating with relevant directorates/departments for outsourcing of equipments or responsibilities for revenue purposes.
  • Gathering business information through Airfares, Trade fares, Hajj operations and other activities through which the agency’s revenue base will be enhanced.
  • Monitor project implementation, prepare report on completion and invite commercial department to take over billing and invoicing.
