The Internal Audit Department is headed by a General Manager (Audit). The department is essentially a Management control tool which falls under the umbrella of the Managing Director of the Agency. The department is broken down into two units viz: Revenue and Expenditure Units. Each of these units is manned by a Deputy General Manager who works with audit officers of various levels in the unit.
The departments at the moment have audit officers stationed at three outstations: MMIA, ABUJA and KANO.
The department is saddled with the responsibility of carrying out day-to-day audit checks and verification of financial transactions, accounting/administrative controls and processes in accordance with government financial regulations and other extant rules to ensure that the assets of the Agency are safeguarded.
